Freeze-dried normal human immune globulin preparation, 2.5gm vial with 50ml solvent & 5gm vial with 100ml solvent: for i.v injection or infusion

Dose & admin: Humaglobin is for intravenous use only. Dosages in different indications are given bellow:
1.    Primary antibody deficient states: 200- 400mg/kg body weight at intervals of 2-4 weeks. Frequency of administration depends on the serum IgG level, frequency and severity of the infections.
2.    Secondary antibody deficient states: 200- 300mg/kg body weight as a single dose, in the perioed of intensive treatment the repeated doses should be administered on a weekly basis.
3.    In perinatal and infant sepsis: 300-500mg/kg body weight as a single dose, repeated after 5 days if necessary.
4.    Protein loss states: Immune deficiency states due to extensive burn, injuries, operations, therapeutic plasmapheresis: Proportionally to the IgG values found in the serum, 200- 400mg/kg body weight as a single dose.
5.    Treatment of immune complex and autoimmune diseases: viz-
*    Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura: In acute cases 800-1000mg/kg body weight on two consecutive days, in chronic cases to maintain the thrombocyte number at a value over 30,000/1. It is also recommended prior to splenectomy and other surgical interventions to reach a thrombocyte count over 100,000/1.
*    Guillain Barre syndrome: 400mg/kg body weight once daily for 5 consecutive days.
*    Autoimmune neutropenia /autoimmune hemolytic anemia: 400-500mg/kg body weight once a week until activity of the disease ceases or reduces.
*    Pediatric systemic rheumatoid arthritis / Polymiositis: 400-500mg/kg body weight once a week until activity of the disease ceases or reduces.
*    Kawasaki disease: 400mg/kg body weight on 5 consecutive days or 2000mg/kg body weight as a single dose.
6.    Prevention of virus infection, viz-
*    Hepatitis A virus infection: 20mg/kg body weight.
*    Measles, mumps & varicella: 50mg/kg body weight.
7.    Treatment of HIV- infected patients: It is the same as in case of primary antibody deficient states (see above).
8.    Antiepileptic treatment (Lennox-Gastout and West syndromes): 300-400mg/kg body weight 3 times a week third week for a period of half a year.
Intravenous immunoglobulin: Injection of high dosages of human immunoglobulin (400mg/kg per day for 5 days) have been found effective in good number of patients.
The i.v administration must be performed at a high dilution (at least 1:20) & very slowly (15 drops/min.) while the patient is kept under close clinical supervision.
